About Us
Cherokee apparel has been known for comfort and fashion since 1972. This ready-to-wear heritage shapes the way we approach designing and manufacturing medical uniforms and accessories; it has helped our brand become the overwhelming favorite of healthcare workers everywhere.
Cherokee is dedicated to bringing fashion, comfort and quality—as well as a little more style and personality—to uniforms without sacrificing the functionality you need to do your job.
Each Season, We Take Pride In Offering
New Designs: We bring fashion-forward styles from ready-to-wear to uniforms.
New Fabrications: Cherokee seeks fabrics and apparel technology from around the world for our collections to meet the specific needs of nurses and healthcare workers: comfort, durability, softness, stretch, moisture wicking and easy care.
Fashion Prints: Our designers create a broad array of exclusive designs, from florals to geometrics to conversational prints, taking inspiration from fashion runways around the world. We also work with artists and guest designers to offer unique prints from their original artwork.
Fun and Warmth: Through our Tooniforms collection, we offer the industry's foremost collection of world-famous characters, including Disney, SpongeBob SquarePants, Looney Tunes, Hello Kitty, Dr. Seuss, Marvel Comics, Betty Boop, Blue's Clues and more.
Outstanding Quality: We work with a nationwide panel of nurses who give us feedback on new products and industry trends. All of our garments are tested to meet the highest quality standards before they are manufactured.
No uniform is complete without the most important comfort element—shoes. Cherokee footwear is designed specifically for healthcare workers, combining the most advanced comfort technologies with great fashion to give you exceptional support and comfort through your longest shifts.
Cherokee is owned by Strategic Partners, Inc. (SPI), a leader in the manufacturing and marketing of medical uniforms, medical footwear and school uniforms. Established in 1995, Strategic Partners is the company behind market-leading Cherokee, Dickies and HeartSoul medical apparel, footwear and accessories. SPI's corporate offices and design studio are in Chatsworth, California.
Giving Back
Cherokee recognizes the tremendous contribution healthcare workers make to society; our goal is to be their champion. The Cherokee tagline, "Inspired Comfort" reflects not only the fashionable and functional design of our medical uniforms, but also honors the exceptional service and sacrifice healthcare workers demonstrate every day in bringing comfort to others.

Alarmed at the number of nurses leaving the profession within their first few years in practice, Cherokee Uniforms provided a grant to Emmy Award-winning director David Hoffman to produce a film that would encourage, inspire and instruct nurses and nursing students. The resulting film, A Nurse I Am, was produced in two versions, a 32-minute educational film that is shown at nursing schools nationwide, and a longer documentary version that showcases the challenges and commitment of three extraordinary and memorable professionals.
Proceeds from Cherokee products fund up to 10 scholarship awards for nursing students annually. Since 2007, Cherokee has awarded more than $192,000 in scholarships to deserving students.
In 2013, we were pleased and humbled by a letter from Arizona Congresswoman Sinema acknowledging our efforts and recognizing one of our nursing scholarship winners.
The application period for the A Nurse I Am Scholarship is in February of each year. Selection of scholarship winners is based on a short essay about nursing that varies each year. For news and timely updates, refer to the A Nurse I Am website.

Cherokee Uniforms is a Foundation Sponsor of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, recognizing outstanding nurses. More than 3,300 healthcare organizations and nursing schools present the award to nurses who have made a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patients' families. More than one million nurses have been nominated since 1999.
The DAISY Foundation (DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System) was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little-known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received motivated them to create the award recognizing bedside nurses and nursing faculty. Additionally, the Foundation funds nursing research and evidence-based practice projects in the treatment of auto-immune diseases and cancer. More information is available at www.DAISYfoundation.org.
